Causes of Shoulder Pain
The shoulder joint is a complex joint made up of joints, bones, muscles, ligament, cartilage and soft tissues. Considered the most mobile joint in the body, it is therefore predisposed to a number of shoulder injuries. Any weakness or damage to any of these structures or surrounding tissues will not only cause you mild to severe pain but subsequently compromise your ability in completing simple day to day tasks such as fastening your bra.
Shoulder joint injuries may or may not be as a result of a specific accident to the shoulder. The majority of shoulder injuries seen in our clinic have developed over time for no known cause.
Some of the most common causes we see in our clinic include:
-
Impingement Syndrome
-
Referred pain from the neck or cervical spine
-
Osteoarthritis

Treating Shoulder Pain with Physiotherapy
At our Nottingham Physiotherapy Clinic we will accurately diagnose your shoulder pain and get to the root cause of your pain.
Physiotherapy is very effective for many shoulder conditions or injuries, usually consisting of hands on physio treatment , bespoke stretching exercises and a strength and a conditioning programme.
Assessment and treatment of the various structures around the shoulder itself (i.e neck and shoulder blade) will also ensure normal mechanical function and poor posture do not predispose any future reoccurrences of your injury.
We can diagnose and treat your shoulder pain
